Dean Takahashi of the San Jose Mercury News reports that he got hold of a copy of Intel President Paul Otellini's eight-week-old blog, which is apparently quite candid.
The nightmare of lawyers and most PR types, internal blogs offer CEOs a way to communicate with every level of their company, and to get feedback that simply wouldn't be forthcoming from any other interchange. External blogs offer companies a way to put a human voice in the consumer's ear, bringing corporate communication back to a personal level.
Otellini, who becomes Intel's next chief executive in May, even praises Advanced Micro Devices, his Sunnyvale rival whose existence company executives take pains to ignore.
In his first post -- which drew 350 responses from Intel employees -- Otellini recognized that nothing online stays secret for long. "While this is intended as an internal blog, I recognize that it will become public -- welcome to the Internet!"
