E-Commerce Times: Open Source Drupal.Org Could Be Fierce Competitor for Six Apart Blogging Platform
Jennifer LeClaire, writing in eCommerce Times about the blogging powerhouse created by the acquisition of the open source blogging platform Live Journal by Six Apart, LeClaire quotes me saying that Drupal, another well-regarded open source blogging platform, is a potentially fierce competitor for Six Apart.
"Drupal does everything that Moveable Type and a lot of the other popular software can do and then some -- and it's free," Ochman said. "Like Firefox, it's always being updated and improved. Drupal is starting to become real competition. The strong companies are going to be the successful ones."
I would say WordPress (http://www.wordpress.org/) is an even better free alternative. Especially considering Drupal is, IMHO, total overkill for blogging software -- it's self-admittedly a full CMS.
