The Non-Communications CommitteeHere's an acronym-laden message I got this morning from the [non]communications committee of some organization I don't recognize. WTF? "Annual Holiday Party" You are cordially invited to join the members of MPIGNY, HSMAI Big Apple Chapter, ISES NY Metro Chapter, SITE and PCMA for our Annual Holiday Celebration. This year's event is being held at Avalon with a theme of "Fire & Ice." There will be an open bar and hors d'oeuvres served throughout the evening. Please cut and paste the address below into your web address bar to register for this event (Please select ISES as your organization affiliation): [in other words, they don't know how to put a live link into an email] Sincerely, So I copy the link into my browser and when I get there, it's still acronym land and no way to find out who the hell any of these organizations are. CommentsCan't tell you how you ended up on their lists, but HSMAI is the Hotel Sales and Marketing Association International; MPIGNY is Meeting Planners International, Greater NY Chapter; PCMA is Professional Conference Management Association and SITE is Society of Incentive Travel Executives. Don't know the ISES group though... I don't live in that neck of the woods anymore, but those hotel people throw pretty good parties. You should show up.
