Dick Waterman's Blues Calendar and Book Are Great Gifts for Music Lovers
Dick Waterman is a client and very long-time friend of mine. I just got his Mississippi Blues Calendarin the mail today and it knocked my socks right off. What a really wonderful holiday gift.
It's got a dozen of Waterman's extraordinary black and white photos of Mississippi blues musicians from Son House to B.B. King. The calendar is $15 for one or $27 for two, including shipping.
The Boston Phoenix says, "Dick Waterman’s life has been a blues fan’s fantasy. ... He shared stories, confidences, hardships, and whiskey bottles with ... Son House, Fred McDowell, Arthur Crudup, and Skip James, who were his clients and friends. ... Waterman’s fly-on-the-wall presence through the portion of blues history he helped make allowed him to photograph many artists in private moments. ... Between Midnight and Day would be an excellent photographic record, but it’s the tales Waterman spins about each of his subjects that make it so intimate."
There are beautifully printed three editions, including a paperback. Each one of the Limited Editions ($175.00) has a 1967 BB King photo that is hand-signed by Waterman as well as a numbered Vellum sheet.
