Dead-Tree Journo At Dallas Morning News Sounds Premature Death Knell for Blogging
Colleen McCain Nelson of The Dallas Morning News (registration required, bypass with BugMeNot.com) notes that "with the election over and much of the country suffering political fatigue, traffic has slowed to a crawl on some blogs."
The death of blogging is just wishful thinking on the part of a dead-tree writer. Expect to see lots more blog bashing in the slow news days after the holidays.
Nelson admits late in the article that "media experts don't expect many bloggers to abandon their keyboards." Sounds like she was just trying to drum up a little controversy on a slow news day.
"Blogging is an addictive process," said Sreenath Sreenivasan, a professor at Columbia University [and technology reporter for WCBS TV News.] "You like the response so much, you keep doing itてカThe election てカ showed that journalists in the mainstream aren't the only ones that can have an impact."
"It's a 24 hour-a-day endeavor. It's incessant. It never ends," said Markos Moulitsas, who runs the left-leaning political blog Daily Kos. "The potential for burnout is very high."
