TomScocca.com: Blogging Off Daily Can Make You Blind

"Everybody wants to write about the bloggers. The bloggers are hot. They are Transforming Journalism, breaking down the walls between subjectivity and objectivity and between subject and object. They have a news peg right now, as the engines behind the 60 MinutesñNational Guard memo controversy,"
writes Tom Scocca in a New York Observer piece on blogging.

He also talks about many bloggers who burn out under the writing task they set up for themselves on a daily blog. I discussed the not so sunny side of blogging in Straight Talk About Blogs: Do You Really Need One? in MarketingProfs.

Your "Straight Talk" article is the first realistic list about what is needed when entering the blogging world that I've seen.

I've been working at an internet related job for ten years now, so when I started my own blog, I didn't really expect too many surprises. It all looked like just another web-based application that you can run on your server. So I bought a couple of books to get up to speed and off I went. Turns out that the reality of what blogging is was much different than the picture these books painted.

Anyway, I wrote a short note here about what I learned on my blog, using a few of the items you list.

This is definitely a must-read list for someone who is thinking about blogging.

An excellent article (straight talk), spot on. In fact,I often make the point to people/clients that it may be that they don't need a blog at all. Shock! Horror! :-)
