More Than 200 Major Business Leaders Announce Their Endorsement of Kerry
A group of more than 200 major corporate executives has risked the wrath of the incumbent president and his Republican controlled Congress by announcing their support for John Kerry.
Kerry's announcement follows in the footsteps of Bill Clinton, whose release of a list of his business backers boosted his campaign against Geroge Bush's daddy.
Among the Kerry converts is David Bonderman, founder and managing partner of the Fort Worth, Texas, investment firm Texas Pacific Group, who supported Mr. Bush for president in 2000 and earlier for Texas governor.
In an interview from a chartered boat off Italy where he is vacationing, Mr. Bonderman told the Wall St. Journal: "George is a really good guy personally. But his policies are really terrible. ... He's turning out to be the worst president since Millard Fillmore -- and that's probably an insult to Millard Fillmore."
