Holy News Coup Batman! Blogger Scoops All Media With Early Iraq Handover Story

One of the biggest stories of all time -- the early handover of sovereignty in Iraq -- was broken online today by blogger Stuart Hughes on his Beyond Northern Iraq blog. Any doubts about the viability of bloggers as journalists should now be forever quieted as Hughes scooped CNN, AP and Reuters with the announcement.

He then attended the Bush/Blair news conference and filed an audio blog. Interestingly, Hughes blog posts used urls that contained the words "blogging exclusive, must credit beyond" and "this is audio post, click to play." A BBC News producer, Hughes had his foot amputated after surviving a landmine in Iraq.
