Yet another agency has lost yet another client for a stupid Tweet. The latest is the PR agency Redner Group, losing their largest client by denouncing negative reviews of client 2K’s “Duke Nukem Forever” game.
Stupid Tweet. Ridiculous knee-jerk reaction by the client.
This stuff is not rocket science. All a social media policy really needs to say is “Don’t forget you have a day job.”
And Twitter could help if they would install a “Cancel” button like gMail’s to let you cancel a Tweet within 30 seconds of posting it. But really people, seriously, don’t do this stuff!
The big problem with a cancel button is that it would never work because that tweet is sent out to 1000s of followers accounts and displaying on their screens before they could cancel it. People often realize their mistake and try and delete stuff but it’s too late as people have taken screen shots etc at that stage!!
i guess you’re right. and I guess it matters how many followers one has, and how interested they are in what you Tweet
